Dear Friends,

In the game of life at the YMCA, our
goal is to help people move forward
and achieve success. In this year’s
annual report, we will highlight our
Association’s many accomplishments,
as well as some of the key players
who have contributed to our success
and a few others who we have helped
along in their personal journeys.
The YMCA means many things to
many people. For some, the Y provides
support during times of hardship.
For others, it is a place where they
have found new friends and formed
lifelong bonds. As you read about
the individuals and families we have
highlighted in this year’s annual report,
we hope you will agree that whatever
stage of the game they are in, their
stories are a great illustration of what
the YMCA is all about.

As an organization, it would seem
we are at the top of our game as
well. This year, our Rochester YMCA
branches collectively achieved the
top scores in the country for overall
member satisfaction. Not only did our
Eastside Family Branch take the number
one spot, but three of our branches scored
in the top 10 percent in the country. This
is evidence of our branches’ continued
focus on building meaningful, lasting
relationships with members through the
Activate America initiative.
Getting everyone in the game by making our
programs and services accessible is a critical
part of our winning strategy. As our local and
national economies struggled this year, our
volunteers and donors stepped up once again
with a “can-do” attitude to ensure another
winning year for our Invest in Youth Campaign.
Thanks to our leader Dr. Mary-Beth
Cooper, along with a tremendous cast
of supporters, we raised $1,384,167,
surpassing our goal by over $138,000.
We are so thankful that the community
still believes in the work the YMCA
does and are willing to show continued
support. By honoring the mission of
our organization — to not turn anyone
away in need of services — we can
assure that everyone has a chance to
win at the game of life.

Of course, none of this would be
possible if it were not for people like
our Volunteers of the Year, highlighted
on this game board, whose tireless
efforts help to make the YMCA such a
successful organization. Thanks to the
help of our volunteers, donors, members
and staff, our YMCA has truly made a
difference in people’s lives. We invite
you to come and play at the YMCA,
and see what’s in store for you!
